Elevate Your Basics

Elevate Your Basics

There’s unsung heroes in every closet. The trusted tried and true. They are the Basics. That oh-so-perfect dress may win the night, but the girl that can pull off look after look with everyday basics wins the war. Here are five tips to take your basics from pop rocks to fireworks.

THE PERFECT “BLACKDROP”
Your basic black tank is the ultimate role player. She is the ideal backdrop for a statement necklace to become a shining star. Add some wide pants and pumps to your cast and your sure to have a winning ensemble for your night out.

THE SKINNY ON TEES
Graphic tees are the perfect dress and go item. But they are more versatile than meets the eye. Adding some posh to the tee lets people know you can adult but you’re going to on your own glorious terms. Add black skinnies and some strappy mesh heels for a personality-packed look ready to crush it from work to drinks.

UPGRADE YOUR LBD ASAP
The Little Black Dress is the staple of all staples. She’s casually bailed us out of many a deserted Pinterest attempt. With minutes to spare and more clothes on your floor than in your closet, she picks you up by your tatas and whisks you off to your party. Do her a solid next time and elevate your LBD’s game with some cheeky black and white tights and booties.

IT’S NOT OVER YET
Like Zach Efron and grudges, a good pair of jeans gets better with age. The more miles you add, the more they synch with your hips, legs, and bum bum. However, just because they’re starting to show more skin than cover, doesn’t mean they have to be relegated to just indoor activities. A fresh blazer and some sexy booties are all you need to breathe some well-deserved life into an old friend.

REIN IN THAT FRUMP
Take an old unflattering frumpy sweater and pull it in with a belt. Now you’ve got a flattering look that shows off your curves and has a little extra finesse. Add some boots to complete a bold and cozy outfit.

I’m so impressed (and appreciative) of Worthy Girl’s place on Cabot St. In my hometown of Beverly. It’s quality shops like Worthy Girl that makes coming home all the more special. Plus I never shop without bringing back to Maine a terrific new item or two. Great job!
